The Uncharted Whisky Company is an independent whisky bottler with a passion for excellent single malt Scotch Whisky. Based in Fintry, Scotland, the two founders Jack & Dana produce a top tier indie product.
Uncharted delights in seeking out the weird, the wonderful and the extraordinary – Off The Grid – malts. The casks they bottle are a level above the average bottler, these guys really get their hands on some special stuff!
Each of their releases is named after a classic song of old, with phenomenal titles such as Teenage Kicks (16yo Highland Park), Smoke on the Water (23yo Laphroaig) and Brown Eyed Girl (14yo Fettercairn).
They previously had a 14 year old Loch Lomond Inchfad, named "You Take The High Road" after the classic Runrig ballad and they're now following that up with a 17 year old, single cask Inchfad named "I'll Take The Low Road".
Their releases are typically all single cask, however they did have one larger release recently, involving three ex-red wine barriques filled with 10 year old Blair Athol spirit - Strawberry Fields.
Cask strength, no colouring and non-chill filtered are a must, and they even label each of their beautifully designed bottles by hand. They really are a sight to behold, stunning on the inside and out!
Their 13 year old GlenAllachie sherry butt release, This Charming Dram, is still one of my favourite drams to this day. It was so bloody charming that it sold out in a heartbeat! Brown Eyed Girl is certainly making a good claim as its successor, if you haven't tried it already I'd highly recommend it.
A favourite amongst connoisseurs and collectors alike, Uncharted Whisky Co make a DamGoodDram indeed!
Slàinte,
Julian
