Tomintoul 7: Marsala Wine Barrique

A gentle Speysider from the beautiful heart of the Cairngorms National Park, Tomintoul distillery has been producing award-winning malts since 1964.
The spirit makes up a critical component of the famous Whyte & Mackay blend, but Tomintoul distillery also has a popular line-up of core range releases.
This single cask example started off as an american white oak ex-bourbon barrel and was then finished for over 2 years in a first-fill Marsala wine barrique.
Marsala is a fortified dessert wine from the region surrounding the Sicilian town of Marsala, Italy. Made from Grillo, Inzolia, Catarratto and Damaschino grape varieties, Marsala has a dark reddish brown colour which has given this 7 year old Tomintoul a beautiful golden-brown hue.
