Macduff 16: Oloroso Sherry Quarter Cask

Founded in 1962, Macduff Distillery is one of Scotland's younger distilleries. Despite this, it has gained a strong reputation for quality Scotch, producing light, fruity whisky with hints of citrus and nuts.
This 16 year old example came to us in a refill bourbon barrel, where it spent 15 years maturing, before we split it into two different sherry quarter casks. One Pedro Ximenez and the other, Oloroso.
This one here has spent 12 months finishing in the Oloroso quarter cask, producing a golden-brown delight of chocolate, cinnamon and orange zest.
For the artwork design on this double Macduff release, we've covered one fantastic tale across two different labels. We chose the Great Race to the North, a fierce competition of speed between Britain’s rival East Coast and West Coast railway lines. Each company fiercely competed for speed, offering express services between London and Edinburgh.
The East Coast ran via King's Cross, while the West Coast operated through Euston, with both routes converging near Aberdeen by 1895.
The Oloroso artwork shows the London-Glasgow Coronation Scot, operated by the London, Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS) line.
